The students at St Patrick's are involved in a daily 1 hour numeracy session that encompasses elements from each of the Mathematics strands.
Staff in recent years have been heavily involved in professional development based on the teaching and learning of mathematics using the Balanced Numeracy Hour. 2015 has seen the implementation of the new National Curriculum for Mathematics, providing the students with wonderful learning opportunities. St Patrick's also has a staff member who designated Leader of Mathematics. The role involves professional development, coordination of resources and data and curriculum initiatives that are shared with all teaching staff so that mathematics teaching and learning is of the highest quality.
Mathematics lessons are programmed to cater to the level of the students being taught and administered using up to date teaching methods, technology and resources. Students are then tracked on the Numeracy assessment continuum so that data can be used to inform and improve teaching and learning.
